Email Addresses
Ten Emails. We'll give you up to ten email addresses. Chances are, you'll only need a few. On the information form, you'll list the email addresses you want.
Accessing Email. You'll be able to access your email account through a web browser, or by using an email program such as Outlook Express or Apple Mail. Each email account will need a username and password to log-in.
Configuring. We'll configure your email addresses initially. Users will be able to change various settings, including their password.
If You Have Your Own Domain Name
If your church has its own domain, all email will come at that domain (the part after the @ symbol). Otherwise, your email will come at one of several different domains that the denomination owns (like unitedbrethren.com, or ubusa.org).
With your own domain, you can make the first part of the address anything you want. For instance, if your domain is fairfieldchurch.org, you could give each staff person an address using their first name (john@fairfieldchurch.org).
You can also use generic addresses, like: info@fairfieldchurch.org
If You Use a Subdomain
With a sub-domain, you share a domain name with other churches. This is not a problem, just as it's not a problem sharing the Yahoo.com name with millions of other people. However, because you're sharing, there are a few restrictions.
No First Names. You can't use first names by themselves (john@ubusa.org). Instead, you'll need to use something like this:
- johnjones@ubusa.org
- jjones@ubusa.org
- pastorjohn@ubusa.org
- john.jones@ubusa.org
- johnj@ubusa.org
No Generic Addresses. You can't use generic addresses (info@ubusa.org, church@ubusa.org). Instead, for a general church mailbox, you'll need to get more specific: fairfield@ubusa.org, or fairfieldinfo@ubusa.org.
