What We'll Do for Your Church
We want to provide a valuable service for a ridiculously low cost. No fancy bells and whistles. Just a site that:
- Looks really good.
- Communicates what your church is about.
- Is friendly with search engines, so that people can find your site on the internet.
- Can stand on its own for at least six months without needing to be changed.
A site like the one we already did for Union Chapel UB church in Fort Wayne, Ind.
To do that with a very limited staff, we need to keep it basic. And we need your cooperation (meaning: don't be too demanding).
We planned this service to minimize the demands on personnel. That means some limitations. For instance: no "News" or "Upcoming Events" pages that required regular updating. If you want a site like that, you need to look elsewhere.
This is aimed primarily at churches that don't currently have a website. That's like not having a sign out in front of your church. A website is your internet "sign." Most church signs can sit by the road for years without needing to be changed. Maybe some fresh paint, trim the bushes around it. But beyond that, you don't need to do anything.
That's the kind of website we're looking at here. An internet "sign" that can stay the same for long periods of time, and will tell passers-by what they need to know about your church.

And keep in mind: this is all for a paltry $150.
Here's the whole list of services AtMyChurch will provide:
- Host the site for three years
- Configure DNS settings
- Help choose, buy, and register a domain name (see Other tab)
- Edit content for the site
- Design the web pages (see Design tab)
- Design a heading (church name)
- Prepare photos optimized for web use
- Upload the site to the server (see Host tab)
- Use techniques to provide a higher search engine ranking
- Configure a feedback form
- Provide a map to your church
- Make updates
- Provide and configure up to ten email addresses (see Other tab)
- Send reminder when domain name is ready to expire
Design the Site
We have several design templates from which you can choose. You provide the content (history, directions, service times, ministries, staff info, etc.), and we'll flow it into the design. Each template was designed in Dreamweaver and makes extensive use of Cascading Style Sheets.
Design a Heading
We'll design a nice heading using your church name (unless you provide one yourself).
Design and Edit the Pages
The content on all of your pages will receive professional editing. We'll handle how all information is placed and formatted on the pages, and how any photos you provide are incorporated into the designs.
Upload Your Site
We'll place your site on the server of a major hosting company, uploading all of the necessary files.
Configuration Settings
We'll take care of these settings for you:
- DNS settings. If you decide to secure your own domain name. This makes your site accesible on the internet (both the website and your email addresses).
- Email addresses. You get up to 10 email accounts. We'll set them up for you.
- Form mail. Your site will include a feedback form. We'll make sure it's configured to send the information to the right place.
Maintain
As information needs to be changed or updated, just send an email and we'll take care of it.
We do ask that you keep changes few and far between--preferably, only a couple times a year. The intent is to provide a website which does not require changing. That's the only way this service will work, because we don't have the staff for frequent changes.
Domain Registration
We recommend that your church secure it's own domain name. There are many advantages to this, and the cost is relatively cheap.
If you like, we will:
- Research and recommend potential domain names for your church.
- Purchase the domain name (with your money, of course).
- Configure all of the necessary settings.
- Keep the domain name with the registrar we use for all United Brethren domains. When it comes up for renewal, we'll send you a bill.
We require that if you want us to purchase a domain, that it be for at least a three-year period ($75). Better yet, $100 will get you five years, and $150 will get your ten years.
If you don't want to purchase a domain name, your site will be hosted in what is called a "sub-domain." Read all about domains and sub domains.
You'll get up to ten email addresses, which you can access via webmail or through an email program like Outlook.
If your church has its own domain, all email will come at that domain (the part after the @ symbol). Otherwise, your email will come at one of several different domains that the denomination owns (like unitedbrethren.com, or ubusa.org).
